On June 28, 2013, a love story began in Montes Claros. A house of support, built in the Canelas neighborhood, opened the doors to receive, in turn, 32 patients and companions. "It was a dream come true," says Dr. Priscila Miranda, a physician oncologist and president of the Present Association.
The seed of this dream germinated years before. In 2004, when the priest Father Sebastião Raimundo de Castro, afflicted by cancer and in treatment with the physician Priscila Miranda, they felt touched by the difficulty of patients in need in the treatment of cancer in the region of the North of Minas Gerais. This is how Project Gift was born, which would later become Present Association.
Before leaving, Father Tiãozinho asked me not to give up our dream of welcoming the siblings with cancer. He said he would send the sign from the heavens, and he always sends, blessing the house, the collaborators and assisted, "says the oncologist.
Since it was founded in 2004, the association has helped more than 7,000 people. The structure has a leisure area for handicrafts, handicraft workshops and therapy. occupancy, a chapel for weekly celebrations, eight large rooms with four beds in for patients and companions, a cafeteria, contributors.
It is a blessed place. If it did not exist, I do not know what would become of me and millions of people. that have passed and will pass through here, says Marta Janete, patient assisted by the house in 2017.
Promote care, care and support for young people, adults and elderly people with cancer and in the prevention and early diagnosis of the disease.
